There's an idea...

name that WMC mascot.  entries being taken...only thing I'm thinking is she can't have a name of someone we already know.  that would be too wierd, and confusing.

good grief, this pesky cold is still hanging on.  with the addition of a new wrinkle - I can't hear out of my left ear.  choir practice was interesting.  so I went to the doctor yesterday and was loaded up with the most medication I think I have ever been given at one time:

Z pack - aka Azithromycin (antibiotic)

Alegra D (allergy)

Mucinex (for snot)

Flonaze (nasal issues and allergies)

Nasal decongestant spray (more nasal issues)

sodium chloride nasal spray (to counteract the serious drying up of the nasal tissues with the 2 previous meds)

debrox (ear rinse stuff)

oh yeah, and I got a steroid shot in the bum yesterday too.

I expect to feeling better SOON, dang it.

More later,

happy new year and black eyed peas...

around these parts you have to eat black eyed peas on new years day for good luck. I had never heard this before we moved to Texas.  And since I don't like black eyed peas much I have pretty much ignored the superstition until now.

I found this recipe on Pioneer Woman, one of my favorite blogs.  I made this up this afternoon and it smells wonderful.  I had a taste before I put it in the refrigerator to marinate and I can tell it is going to be great.  Enjoy.

Black Eyed Pea Salsa/Dip/Salad

Dressing:
1/2 cup olive oil
1/3 cup white wine (or regular) vinegar
2 to 3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground pepper

Veggies:
3 stalks celery, finely chopped
3 green onions, sliced
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 cucumber, peeled, seeded, and chopped
1 jalapeno (optional), seeded and chopped
1 cup (more if desired) chopped cilantro

2 cans black eyed peas, drained.

Mix together dressing ingredients. Set aside.
Combine all vegetables (except cilantro) with black eyed peas. Pour dressing over the top and gently stir together. Add cilantro and stir gently.
Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour. Serve with tortilla chips and have a Happy New Year!

In one tight little package, Stephanie summed up in many ways my feelings about Christmas this year.

Mom says you can click on the folder on the sidebar to see some more from the fun weekend I had with the parents, g-parents, Ryan, my sisters, aunt Patty and Ryan's mom.  But it was worth it because I think ASU is going to actually send me a diploma...(and I did actually get some pretty sweet swag because of it.)

check these off the list...

~ The extra room (the crafty/fly-tying room that used to be part of the garage) is in serious need of some decluttering.  And since dear sister will be camping in there for a few days next week, it really needs to be done soon.

~ Washing windows.  I am not kidding.

Guilt free knitting on tap for this evening...

progress(?)

Okay, so yesterday I left a very impressive list of things I want to accomplish soon.  And this morning I did my weekly shopping at the big box store and brought everything home and put it all away.  And was done.  I didn't feel like tackling anything else.  So the puppies and I sat and knit, and watched TV and burned a fire in the fireplace, completely ignoring the list.  No guilt either.  Tomorrow is another day, and in the mean time, I have a few more rows on the knit project.

check back tomorrow...

peace out y'all,

CJ
